Flosstradamus

Description: Chicago's world-famous DJ outfit Flosstradamus to take the stage at an all-ages dance party at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater on Wednesday April 9th, as a part of the five day, five party "Rad Five" extravaganza.

Bloomington, IN — On April 9th, Chicago's deservedly-hyped DJ team Flosstradamus will take the stage at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater. Drawing equally on punk and hip-hop influences, DJs J2K (Josh Young) and Autobot (Curt Cameruci) bring oft-divided crowds together with their signature mix of hip-hop, electro, underground dance tracks, and block party anthems. Their epic monthly party called "Get Outta The Hood" transformed an unknown dive bar into one of Chicago's must-visit party destinations, with entry lines wrapping around the block outside and a wall-to-wall crowd surfing fiesta inside. Audience favorites from megaconcerts such as Pitchfork Music Festival and Coachella, these former tourmates of Chromeo and A-Trak's first Indiana appearance is sure to be one for the books.

Champions of building the midwestern scene, Cameruci and Young chose to help create a scene they flourish in rather than relocating to more receptive audiences. "Everyone is trying to make it big here and usually when they do, they leave," says Curt Cameruci of Flosstradamus. "We want to make the whole scene better instead of just taking our little bit of shine we have now and running with that. We want to create something bigger here… something people will remember."

Flosstradamus share those goals with opening DJs Flufftronix (Michael Lasday) and Action Jackson (Ben Jackson), pillars of the Bloomington dance scene who head up the event production company and DJ crew Rad Summer. "At the parties we do here, crowds just feel full of life and enthusiasm," says Lasday, "Those kinds of audiences definitely deserve entertainment of the same caliber." With the reputation of showcasing artists on the verge of blowing up in the indie and dance scenes (Matt & Kim, Totally Michael, DJ Sega, etc.), Rad Summer has consistently delivered partygoers the unique opportunity to get down to their future favorite songs.

As a part of that mission, Flosstradamus's performance takes place as a part of a five day series of events coordinated by Rad Summer called Rad Five, an unofficial accompanyment to Little 500 (the single speed bicycle races which are hallmarks of both Indiana University's sports program and collegiate cycling on the whole). Included are five nights of dance parties, an alleycat bicycle race and a bicycle parade.
